Who would be more embarrassed after ‘leaks’?

wikileaks2 thumb Who would be more embarrassed after leaks? If we consider these leaked cables to be true, then we see many political figures naked to their original stature. So far no one from the US government officials has questioned the authenticity of these cables. However, Pakistani, Iranian and Saudi Arabian government officials are calling these cables fake in embarrassment. Personally I think these cables are genuine but it is quiet possible that US government and agencies deliberately leaked only those which can benefit them; like they can now further push back Iran or Zardari.

Anyhow, this particular post is focused only on the actual character of our political figures which has been exposed by these leaks. So far, released documents have something to say about Musharraf, Zardari, Nawaz, Fazlur Rehman, Kayani and Ameen Fahim. Lets take a look:

Nawaz Sharif

nawaz sharif thumb Who would be more embarrassed after leaks?1.  Kayani thinks that PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif is not trustworthy and hence he don’t want to see him in government.

Wikileaks: Should we surprise? Are these real ‘leaks’?

wikileaks thumb Wikileaks: Should we surprise? Are these real ‘leaks’?Pakistani media gives it special coverage when it comes to Asif Zardari. But the real question is that “Are these leaks surprising for us?” Don’t we know what Zardari is? or What Gulf countries really feel about Iran? What if King Abdullah thinks that Zardari is corrupt and is an obstacle in country’s progress, What if crown prince of UAE thinks that Zardari is corrupt and won’t be problematic (for US, of-course). Who doesn’t think so? Yes, I know Jiyalas don’t.

PPP, as usual, is ignorant to the fact that Zardari is not liked by many Gulf countries and China as well. They say that since King Abdullah’s sentiments doesn’t reflect on the official policy of Saudi Arabia so we are okay with that. But I think this is embarrassing for Pakistan as no matter what, Zardari is ‘elected’ President and hence head of the state (which King Abdullah thinks that this head is rotten). Read more

China tells US, ‘Pakistan is our Israel’

china pakistan thumb China tells US, Pakistan is our IsraelThe world’s most populous country is showing more international assertiveness, which bothers the US. When a US delegate once confronted a Chinese diplomat about Beijing’s uncompromising support for Pakistan, the Chinese reportedly responded with a heavily-loaded sarcastic remark: “Pakistan is our Israel”.

But judging by China’s unrelenting support for some of its allies, including North Korea, Burma, Zimbabwe and Sudan, its protective arm around these countries is no different from the US and Western political embrace of Israel – right or wrong.

China has been a reliable friend for Pakistan through all the thick and thin, that’s neither a secret nor it requires more articles. This friendship and brotherhood is not just limited to the Governments of both these countries but the actual roots of these emotions are in the hearts of the people of these two neighboring countries. Both countries have their strategic interests attach to each other. Continue Reading

Victory in Afghanistan Impossible, says Gorbachev

Mikhail Gorbachev thumb Victory in Afghanistan Impossible, says GorbachevFormer Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, whose tenure was marked by military failure in Afghanistan, says a NATO victory in Afghanistan is impossible.

He told the BBC Wednesday that President Barack Obama was right in setting a 2011 deadline to start pulling out troops from Afghanistan, no matter “how difficult” that move will be.

Mr. Gorbachev, now 79, said the alternative was “another Vietnam.”

The United States and NATO have deployed more than 150,000 soldiers in Afghanistan to battle a Taliban-led insurgency that has spread from the south to the north and west of the country.
